About Hop Gallery

The original Star Gallery built up an excellent reputation over 20 years. Now under new management as HOP GALLERY, it has undergone refurbishment, whilst still retaining some original features you will find a unique gallery space, which will enhance all types of art.

The ethos of the gallery is to continue to provide a valuable cultural resource for Lewes and to show work from local, national and international artists.

As it evolves and enters a new, exciting era HOP GALLERY will endeavour to hold onto its core values and philosophy to strive to maintain its place as one of the most prestigious visual arts venues in Sussex. It will continue to provide an exhibition space for traditional and contemporary art, as well as sculpture and installations.

This beautiful, light and calming space lends itself to a variety of art media including photography, creative workshops for adults and children, literary events including talks, poetry and storytelling. The acoustics in this lovely building are perfect for small music recitals by instrumental and chamber music groups, classical guitar, jazz ensembles or small choral groups.
