Hop Gallery is a delightful, light and calming visual arts exhibition space; situated in the 18th century Star Brewery building with its ancient brickwork, massive beams and echoes of a fascinating industrial past, nestled in the shadows of the Norman Castle in the heart of the historic County town of Lewes and is renowned for its’ diverse programme of excellent art exhibitions by local, regional, national and international artists and makers with a mixture of 2 and 3 dimensional work – there is something for all tastes. The gallery is contemporary in decor with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where visitors will feel welcome and can take time to view artwork on show. Exhibitions run for two weeks so there is always something new on the horizon.

Mohamed Hamid - Star Brewery PotteryAfter your visit to Hop Gallery pop into the Mohamed Hamid Pottery also located in the Star Brewery, here, you will be able to experience Mohamed and his colleagues at work in their relaxed studio gallery making a wonderful selection of hand thrown and painted pottery and ceramics available for sale. Many craftspeople have started off here and Mohamed still runs regular children and adult workshops.

The Café at The Needlemakers, LewesIn The Needlemakers where once, in this ancient building the Broad’s candles were made and during WW1 surgical needles were manufactured, you will now find a flourishing group of specialist shops and an atmospheric café.
